It’s hard to say who had more fun last night at the Appleton Christmas Parade, our five-year old or his new 101-year old friend, Pauline.
Both enjoyed rides right down the center of the parade route, courtesy of the Fox Cities Cycling Association.
Both waved enthusiastically throughout the whole route.
And both can’t wait to do it again next year.
But, that’s the thing about Christmas in a little city that loves to celebrate it. It turns us all into excited little children.
Thousands of kids — old and young — lined the streets watching and cheering as the parade past by, and hundreds of kids — band members, bikers, ballet dancers and a right jolly old elf — entertained them with glee.
From our vantage point, smack in the middle of the parade, everyone had a great time.
Probably none more than Pauline, though. You have to admire a centenarian who lives with such glee.
I like to think the magic of the season wends it’s way up College Avenue, down Drew Street, into City Park and out into the world around, thanks to that parade and the angels who herald it.
I hope you can feel it too.
Thanks to the City of Appleton for another spectacular show, and to our personal peddler Dave for another magical ride.
