If at first you don’t succeed, try 400 more times

Today marks a milestone for Molly B and Me, our 400th post. We think you should help us celebrate by pouring yourself a nice, cold drink, sitting down in a comfy chair and reading each one.

Not really.

Mostly, we just want to thank you for hanging out with us.

We launched this blog on August 31, 2011 with a 65 word entry about our turnip infested backyard patio garden. Since then, we’ve joined a CSA and let other people with greener thumbs and richer soil grow our vegetables.

And speaking of potatoes, the first recipe Molly posted may have been a little too far outside the box, but it taught us an important lesson in food blogging: people actually might attempt to make the recipes you post.

We haven’t made potato cookies since then, and we’re guessing you haven’t either.

But, we hope you’ll attempt some of our other recipes, like Molly’s Caprese Pie and my Golden Harvest pork chops, which sprang from the foam of our fertile imaginations.

We’ve written a post or two about our beloved Packers and I’ve enjoyed writing each one. Hilariously, the Packer post that has received the most hits so far is a story I wrote about the ladies of the Lombardi era.

The most popular post we have written among all 400, though, has nothing to do with the green and gold. It is a little piece we wrote about high school theatre and we’d like to thank all of our thespian friends and their fearless leader for that.

Some of my own favorite posts have been the spontaneous ones. I plastered “You are beautiful” signs all over my hometown one day and met a bunch of nice people doing it.

Molly loved connecting with her great-grandma by making her legendary walnut rolls.

I’ve solicited help now and then, including in this post, which I wrote to encourage my sister.

See there, we’ve walked you through 14 posts. You only have 386 more to go.

Thank you for your support of this project of ours, for reading our posts, sharing our blog and clicking on our ads. Last week, we also received our first check, a milestone we celebrated with dinner on my grandma’s china plates.

We’re on pace to earn about 25 cents for each blog post, which cracks us up. The real reward isn’t monetary, of course, it’s the joy we both feel from telling our stories, sharing our recipes and connecting with you.

This is what Molly looked like when we first started this blog.

This message showed up on my cellphone on a busy posting morning. I know 94 hourly views doesn't seem like a lot to, say, the Pioneer Woman, but it does seem like a lot compared to 4 views an hour. Again, it made us laugh.
This message showed up on my cellphone on a busy posting morning. I was pretty excited because 91 hourly views by nine in the morning made for a very busy day in blog land. (Kindly ignore the 4 hourly views on average notation.) To date, we have notched 70,041 views on our blog (not that I obsessively check the statistics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Who has time for that? ;})
Molly took this picture of me on our recent "Is This Normal" spring break. It is normal for me to pose like sculptures, as we've documented many times on this blog.
