This franchise is one for the books

It’s hard to say how many books have been written about the Green Bay Packers.

I know I can count nine (with multiple copies of some) on a single shelf in my own bookcase.

Another, Is There Life After Football? Surviving the NFL, arrives at my house today and I’m headed out Thursday evening to hear a book talk by it’s very accomplished author, former Packer George Koonce.

I’ll try to refrain from shouting “Koooooooonce” when I see him take the stage at the Appleton Public Library. One of our favorite linebackers holds a Ph.D. now and such monosyllabic chants seem inappropriate in light of all his degrees.

I’m looking forward to reading his book, which won the 2016 North American Society for the Sociology of Sport Best Book Award.

The transition out of the NFL can be frought with challenges, and I’m eager to hear from someone who navigated it so well.

I feel fortunate to have read an advance copy of another Packer book that’s coming out in September, and I know you’ll find that perspective interesting as well.

And, of course, I am looking forward to the launch of our book that includes a lot of untold stories of the team behind Lombardi’s Packers.

I hope you, too, will enjoy reading these Packer books as we gear up for Green Bay’s 106th season.

And I hope you’ll join us for one of our book signings, or our book launch at the Appleton Public Library on August 6th.
