Songs, shamrocks and shenanigans

Our Irish eyes are still smiling thanks to a Saturday that included songs, shamrocks, shenanigans and a successfully executed sisterly surprise.

It all happened, as so many good things do, at the Humble Moon Saloon.

We had come to Maiden Rock for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and shindig. This year we brought a handful of extra leprechauns, including two surprise sprites from LA.

Our merry band of mischief makers arrived first, so we tucked the two surprises away and set our plan in motion.

Our targets came next, separately and through two different doors.

No one spotted the leprechauns hiding in plain sight.

Sure and begorrrah t’was a lovely reunion. It is always such a treat to witness how excited your adult kids are to see each other.

That love is the pot of gold at the end of every family’s rainbow.

Next came the parade, during which we personified our float theme — the Shamrock Shakers — thanks to the blustery wind and even, as one of my little cohorts pointed out, some snow!

Thankfully, the Humble Moon Saloon is a warm and welcoming place. After the parade, we got to toast our tootsies in front of a stage that held our favorite band, Upper Miss.

At one point, we even hopped up there to sing a few Irish songs.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our band of lucky leprechauns to yours!

Here’s a little taste of the fun:

We got to hear some great Upper Miss tunes like this one…

And we even got to hop up there and sing a couple of Irish tunes…

Full car = full heart.
The surprise rolled out perfectly.
I love seeing how excited my adult kids are to see each other!
The parade was a little chilly but we had a good crowd section there to cheer us on.
It’s always fun for us to see Upper Miss, a band that grew out of two collegiate a capella groups (and an excellent drummer, Joe Hujet, Vinnie’s longtime friend).
This leprechaun and all the rest of us loved hearing Upper Miss play.
Vinnie knows how to sell a song.
So many shenanigans, cool music and great food at the Humble Moon Saloon.
They were missing a few of their fellow mischief makers, but these guys always have a great time together!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We hope yours is full of laughter and love.
