Midway through our road trip to Minneapolis yesterday, I commandeered the XM radio and we all enjoyed a little “Breakfast with Broadway”.
By 10 a.m., a song came on and I knew we had our theme for the day
The best of times is now.
As for tomorrow,
Well, who knows? Who knows? Who knows?
So hold this moment fast,
And live and love
As hard as you know how.
And make this moment last,
Because the best of times is now.
I’ll be holding this year’s Thanksgiving moments fast, grateful for the opportunity we had to live and love as hard as we know how, because we don’t often get to spend time together all in the same city and man, oh man, are we happy when we do.
We laughed at old jokes and new situations. We toasted our young and gracious hosts and their beautiful apartment. I watched a familiar kitchen pass de deux between my oldest son and youngest daughter in which she bowed low to baste her turkeys and he reached high to season his pommes aligot, a new potato recipe he was excited to share.
Just before dinner, we left the potatoes simmering on the stove and the turkeys resting in foil, and we strolled down to the Walker Art Center because I wanted a picture of all of us next to the Love Sculpture.
They all obliged me because they know I’m a nut for family pictures and also because they like my pies.
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. We hope your day was full of love.
