Play like a champion today (or any day at Lambeau Field)

Our Badgers may not have played like champions last night at Lambeau Field, but their fans sure did.

Notre Dame fans came to play as well and, together, they turned that iconic old stadium into a rollicking cauldron of red, green and blue joy.

I found myself book-ended by Fighting Irish fans, which might have been uncomfortable in any other situation but, at Lambeau yesterday, it just meant I made new friends.

Don, from San Diego, even shared his licorice whips with me.

Sweet!

Several times the whole stadium, 79,939 strong, belted out tunes in unison and kept singing even after the music stopped.

“Country roads take me home to the place I belong.”

If fans of two rival can achieve such harmony, isn’t there hope for this old, cantankerous world?

The game started a little late and ran a little long but no one seemed to mind.

And our team lost but the Titletown District won in terms of both revenue and good vibes.

I was grateful to be a part of such a wholesome and really fun community experience.

And I can’t wait to be back at Lambeau for our home opener.

I’m book-ended here by Notre Dane fans but I still had a great time. Don, my new friend from San Diego, even shared his licorice whips with me.
We’ve been to lots of Packer games at Lambeau but this was only our second Badger game. It was a little surreal to see all that red, and it was also a lot of fun.
The stadium sang along to the National Anthem, which I always love, and the military flyover was cool too.
Vince got to hang out with his high school buddies — a great group of guys even though they’re all Notre Dane fans.
Normally, we wear Green and Gold to Lambeau but my sister Kathy and my mom are versatile football fans, happy to sport the Badger red.
We had a nice crew of family members at the game.
And my sister in-law’s charcuterie board was top notch.
We sang Happy Birthday to my sister Kathy, which she always enjoys.
How ‘bout this guy’s cheesehead with the Notre Dame Golden Dome on top? Play like a champion indeed!
When 79,939 people belt out John Denver on a warm Sunday night at Lambeau, you have to feel good. We all kept singing after the music stopped and that was pretty cool too.
