Love notes from the Gibson Community Music Hall

Love took center stage Saturday night at Gibson Hall and provided the Parachute Show’s trademark updraft to everyone who made their way onto it.

Hosts Hillary Reynolds and Katherine Biskupic led with their hearts. They sent a whole lot of love out to the town that raised them and encouraged each to find her voice.

They shared that love with fellow performers — singers, musicians, poets, comedians and writers.

And an audience full of friends, family and friends-who-feel-like-family sent all that love right back.

In a full circle of love moment, Vinnie and Danni surprised Katherine by turning the wedding poem she had written for them into a song.

Hillary sang a love song she wrote for her husband Ted.

Kyle Megna sang about bravery in a song he wrote for his toddler son.

Michael Murphy sang a set with his brother.

The whole Reynolds family took the stage for a rousing set that showcased generational talent and love.

I’m grateful for the love, the music, the words, the laughter and the opportunity to have experienced it all.

Katherine has been making us laugh and Hillary has been wowing us with her musical gift since they were tiny girls on the playground and they’ve been sharing those talents ever since.

I’d like to thank them for bringing their Parachute Show to Appleton, to Gibson Community Music Hall for hosting it, to each performer and to everyone who came.

I loved every note.

I took a quick shot of our impromptu family section but I couldn’t get everyone in — such a nice problem to have!

They share a love of performing and creating nurturing environments for other artists.
Our niece Lizzy, an actress and poet, read three of her excellent pieces.
Hillary performed with her dad Rick, her Aunt Marci and Uncle Rod — three members of Baba Ganooj.
Molly read from one of her short stories.
Kyle Megna performed a song he wrote for his son.
Here is the song Vinnie and Danni wrote based on a wedding poem Katherine wrote for them.
