My favorite Dolly Parton song came to me by way of an algorithm.
I had taken a long walk and my playlist ran out. Lucky for me, it veered off into Dolly-land.
“From here to the moon and back” stopped me in my tracks. I remember standing there in the chilly dusk just listening.
I played it on repeat as I made my way home, and then looked up its origins when I arrived.
It’s from Dolly’s 2012 movie, A Joyful Noise, which is also a delight.
I read and watched all the Dolly tributes yesterday and I thought about the astonishing impact that tiny woman left on this old world.
I saw a meme that said just about the only thing Americans can agree on right now is Dolly Parton.
She lived a long and fruitful life, but still she died too soon.
Such a legacy!
There will be a full moon by Friday and I’m going to listen to her song when I look up at it.
Rest in Glory, Dolly. We’re lucky to have shared this old earth with you.

Thank you Laura! I never heard that song before. I just added it to my playlist. That’s a phrase I say to my kids and grandkids all the time!!
It’s a great phrase and you’re a wonderful grandma! I think I’ll ask my people to listen to that song while they look at the lunar eclipse on Friday.
