Hope springs eternal (and spring brings eternal hope)

Hope springs eternal, especially when the bulbs and buds burst forth.

We muck along through colorless days and worry spring might have forgotten us.

Then, a tiny crocus sprouts near the corner fire hydrant, a pink apple blossom pokes out of the branch near your office window, and you brave a quick breath of optimism.

Maybe sunny days really are just around the corner.

We Wisconsinites, especially, have been wading through a depressing stretch of grayness.

At last week’s opening game of the Timber Rattlers season, the temperature was so cold my breath froze in the air. I sent a few extra puffs out into the ether that day because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I’m in New Jersey now and I’m happy to say that the same beautiful spring that will eventually make her grand and genuine entrance in Wisconsin, has settled in nicely here.

I noticed that from my plane window as we descended into Newark. The light! The colors! The lack of thick parkas!

I’ve been taking long afternoon walks with my newest family member and we’re both enjoying all the glorious color.

I offer these pictures as a beacon of hope to my friends and family back home.

Spring is on its way to you. There are brighter days ahead.

The tulips!
And magnolia trees!
And did you even know weeping cherry trees existed? I did not. But now I want one.
Beautiful, am I right?
I think this is a crab apple tree but I can’t be trusted. I just know it looks gorgeous right now too.
And the dogwood! (I think)
Pink buds of optimism.
And the cutest companion.
We’ve had some new construction in the neighborhood here too. So that’s been fun. Happy Spring!
