Sunshine, peace, good music and sweet memories

My sister Kathy sent me a video clip earlier this week, and I have been playing it ever since.

Music doesn’t just set a mood, it pretty consistently improves it. When that music is also a prayer, it can really swell your heart.

My blog earlier this week about “the Prayer” reminded Kathy that my daughter Katherine and son Vinnie had performed that song at her wedding 14 years ago. The memory of Kathy marrying Keith also makes me smile. That was a special day for our whole family.

I’m sharing the clip here today in the hopes that it also makes you smile. Our news cycle can get heavy and it’s really helpful to take a break from it every now and then.

At the tail end of a week that saw Appleton voters pass a school referendum, I am also sharing this clip as a thank you note to all the AASD teachers, directors and coaches who coax such amazing things out of our kids. Good teachers change lives in so many ways, not just for their students but for their communities as well.

I hope you all find moments of sunshine and peace this weekend.

Here are Katherine, Vinnie and our family friend Ethan performing the Prayer on the beach at Kathy and Keith’s wedding in 2012.
This is the video Kathy sent.
I couldn’t find a picture of Kathy and Keith with Vinnie and Katherine, so I’m posting this lovely shot — same beach seven years later. That’s Kathy in the middle.
I can’t write about my sister Kathy’s wedding without posting this picture of my sister Jenny and Vinnie on the dance floor.
Fourteen years later and I still smile when I look at these pictures. Such an incredible day.
