The loveliest book tour finale in all the land

We spent World Kindness Day with some of the nicest people we know.

Our daughter Katherine and her friend Hillary wrapped up their book tour last night with a big ole lovefest at Gibson Community Music Hall. The love they sent out from that stage rolled out with their notes and jokes, and it bounced around that room and came right back at them, exactly as their children’s book described.

The two spent the week visiting schools where they presented workshops of songs and stories. After they read their book “Send My Love” and sang the accompanying song, they opened the floor to questions.

At one school, a little boy raised his hand.

“How did you make your book so perfect?” he asked.

They asked the children to name their favorite places. Those answers were just as sweet.

“My favorite place is my mom because she’s everything to me,” a little girl said.

My heart.

Gibson Community Music Hall cultivates talent at the same time it showcases it. It offers a safe space for artists, and an inviting atmosphere for their audience. The world is kind and beautiful in there, and I like to think all that goodness wafts out through the doors and out into the world beyond every time an artist performs, or an audience claps, or a beautiful note rises into the air.

We need that in this old world.

Thanks to everyone who came to the show last night, and who purchased a Send My Love book.

These three, Adriel Denae, Hillary Reynolds and Katherine Biskupic, put on a lovely show, along with comedian Rachel Mac (who headed out before I could snap this shot).
Adriel performed with her dad Stu.
Hillary performed with her dad Ric and her Uncle Rod.
Katherine did not perform with her dad Vince. Ha ha. But we both really enjoyed the show and it has been so nice having Katherine home for this book tour.
So many great people came to the show, including Joseph.
And Katherine’s aunts Donna and Elaine.
And Katherine’s Aunt Kathy and Grandma Peggy. (I wish I had taken a better picture).
These two! They’re headed back to LA but it sure has been fun to have them in town!
