The next generation of cabin queens

When your favorite things involve squishy mud and ripe smells and bugs, it can be a tricky thing to introduce them to the next generation.

Fortunately, our granddaughter loves them too.

Whew!

She trumped through the woods like a champ, listened intently when her Aunt Molly gave her a mycology lesson, sunk her purple-painted toes in the river and watched a storm roll in over a cornfield.

She bravely met cute little calves, sturdy cows, a good-sized garter snake and lots of deer and turkeys.

She also got to taste the best of Wisconsin’s delicacies including Kringle, Hmong egg rolls, Simple Simon doughnuts and cheese, lots of cheese.

But, who wouldn’t like that?

We’re so thrilled our little New Jersey bagel feels as at home in the north woods of Wisconsin as she does on the more cosmopolitan streets of New Jersey.

We’ve got more Wisconsin adventures ahead, including a trip to Bay Beach with Grandma Peggy.

We hope your summer is full of excellent adventures too!

The winding trails of grandparenthood bring us great joy.
Margo and Molly enjoyed a deep, contemplative tramp through the woods.
And we all waded into the river. Wisconsin is lovely anytime of year, but its weather can be challenging. We still hope to do a river float but it was a little too cold this weekend.
Our friends let us visit their adorable baby cows.
Margo also very bravely met a garter snake that was warming its belly in the sun.
We had a great trip to the Appleton Farmers Market…
…where Margo enjoyed a Mr. Reynebeau chocolate chip cookie as big as her head.
Margo’s aunts and uncles are making their way to Wisconsin and we’re so excited.
