We took our little West Orange bagel to Lambeau Field on Saturday and bought her a New Jersey.
That her jersey bore the last name and playing number of her Great-Grandpa Ron and she wore it as we introduced her to his Hall of Fame football made the day extra special.
She also got to see her Great-Grandma Peggy’s mink stole and the picture of Grandma and her friends modeling the gift famously given to them by Coach Lombardi.
At nearly 11-months old, Margo already knows quite a bit about the history of the Green Bay Packers. Let other babies goo and gah. Our baby cheers “Go Pack Go!”
As we strolled her through the Packer Hall of Fame, her daddy Charlie helped her Lambeau Leap.
We sat in the recreated and much warmer stands to watch the Ice Bowl and Margo got to see her great grandpa in action.
“Go Pack Go!”
Then we brought her to the “Excellence Gallery” where she got to touch the football with her great grandpa’s name on it. I like to think all those accomplished athletes represented there look down fondly at the stream of fans stopping by.
Maybe a few of them — Herb Adderley, Henry Jordan, Bart Starr, Forrest Gregg, Bob Skoronski and the rest of those players from the 1960s — even kept an extra eye on our little peanut as she made her way through their gallery.
I know one of them did for sure.
Go Pack Go!
