Tit. Boob. Knocker. Bosom. Cleavage. Jug. Hooter.
According to a song on Urban Dictionary, there are 99 ways to say breast, most of which make us blush.
We’re pretty much a “chest” family around here as in, “Be careful how you sit in that shirt. Your (then we whisper this word) chest is showing.”
I have a friend who is in an all out bosom battle with her college daughter, whose been gleefully posting selfies of her décolletage.
“Cover up!” she says. “All my friends can see your boobies!”
It’s mammary month here in the U.S. and it’s important that we talk about the ta-tas.
Toward that end, Molly B and Me will be putting aside our embarrassment with the words, and our discomfort with the spotlight (who, us? Mr. DeMille, we’re ready!) to join Pure & Weary for “Based on a True Titty: A Breast Cancer Benefit.”
We don’t have to look far to see the devastating effects of breast cancer; we can see it in our sisters, friends, neighbors and colleagues. According to the American Cancer Society, there will be 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2015.
That means 231,840 people undergoing brutal treatment including surgery, radiation and chemo. Most of the participants in Thursday night’s show have direct association with breast cancer. In fact, the proceeds will be going to a fund starting by performer Hillary Reynolds’ mom, who lost her battle with stage four breast cancer four years ago, but left an amazing legacy of courage and love in the form of the Trina Fund.
Join us, if you can, for a night of comedy, music and love next Thursday, October 29 at 10 p.m.at Stage 773 in Chicago. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or by clicking on this link.
Save the love apples, man. It’s time.
