The mother of all sisters

My daughter Katherine has been mothering people since she was old enough to sling her little toddler arm around anyone within her wingspan in need of a little pick-me-up.

Strict with her brothers Charlie and Vinnie, and sweet with her baby sister Molly, Katherine has raised us all.

So, I was thrilled (embarrassing so) when she told me she and her husband Ed were expecting a baby.

The two of them will make excellent parents and I can’t wait to meet their little one.

As the oldest daughter in our crazy family, Katherine has been primed for motherhood.

I once saw her tell a bedtime story to a wide-eyed young boy so skillfully his eyes fluttered closed with the slowing cadence of her words.

She curled baby Molly’s hair and painted her nails, baked her brothers treats and cheerfully attended all their football games.

Katherine taught her siblings to conduct themselves with confidence and she continues to keep a close eye on them all.

They are all as excited as we are about the new addition to our family.

I’m looking forward to meeting our newest little family member at the end of April.

I can’t wait for you to meet our little LA taco too!

Before she had younger siblings, Katherine mothered her dolls. Here she is facing off an aggressive swan while holding her favorite doll.
She was so happy when her own living doll showed up — her baby sister Molly.
Every now and then, Molly objected to Katherine’s ministrations.
But, mostly, she appreciated that Katherine kept her close.
A real arm slinger, Katherine kept a close eye on her little brother Vinnie too.
She willingly jammed herself into tight spaces…
…and corralled her siblings into passable poses.
Katherine also enjoyed mothering her cousins.
She slung her arms around them too
Katherine and Ed will be excellent parents and I can’t wait to meet their little peanut!
