My hair froze on the way to my car yesterday morning and I briefly considered just snapping it off.
I’m due for a haircut anyway, and the icicle method might have saved me some time and money in the salon.
Then, I realized a person might become a little too acclimated to winter climes (and a little too nonchalant about her hairstyle).
I don’t love the bitter cold. When I saw that big fat zero on my weather app yesterday morning, I wanted to roll over and sleep until spring.
But I do love Wisconsin and I know we have to pay some seasonal dues to live here. So, like everyone else around here, I make do.
When a thick layer of icy snow adheres itself to my windshield, I fire up a good podcast along with the defrost. Patience is a virtue I find most necessary on excessively cold winter mornings. The scraper helps move things along, but you’re not going anywhere until your view is clear, so you might as well make good use of your down time. Sometimes, I catch up on phone calls, or social media posts.
I’m also a big fan of giant scarfs. You can cut way down on your morning prep time when you know you’re covering everything except your eyeballs in fluffy wool.
And I love a good snowscape, especially when I can see it from my own window.
But, the best thing about this current cold snap is that we’re hosting the Bears at Lambeau on Sunday and there’s nothing better than a December home game against a historic rival (unless it’s a January game for the NFC title).
In any case, layer up Packer fans. It’s going to be a cold December Sunday at Lambeau Field.
Go Pack Go!

Yesterday morning at my house…and just look at that forecast for Sunday. We’ll see you at Lambeau, Chicago. Better layer up!
