We’re headed to the Bergsbaken Sunflower Festival today for last time.
After 10 years of timing their crop to bloom at exactly the right weekend, and plowing parking lots, and ducking tornadoes, and corralling volunteers, and setting up tents, and creating scenic vistas, the Bergsbakens are retiring their gorgeous festival.
This weekend will be the last time you can enjoy the show.
As always, you will find live music, delicious food, cool crafts, a bouncy house, wagon rides and sunflowers as far as the eye can see.
We’re looking forward to introducing our granddaughter to all the fun.
It’s been a lovely decade.
Many thanks to Lee and Dale Bergsbaken, and their families, for spreading all that sunshine.
We hope to see you there.

What began 10 years ago as a small idea to host a Sunflower Festival has grown into something truly unforgettable. Our farm — a small family operation — is run with hard work and by two brothers: 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐞 & 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 and 𝐋𝐞𝐞 & 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 with help from Jason & Lisa Peters. It was originally started by Dale and Lee’s parents, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐥 & 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧. It’s a place full of history, heart, and hard work.
The dream behind Sunflower Fest wasn’t about profits. It was about sharing the beauty of this land with others — the land we grew up on, where we get to see the beauty every day. ![]()
Each year, we’ve been humbled and overjoyed to see so many families walk the same fields we did as kids. Watching others create memories, laugh together, and soak in the sunshine has been the greatest gift of all.
And just as this event brings visitors together, it brings our family back together, too. From the work of the owners, sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, and grandkids working every corner of the festival — it truly is a labor of love. ![]()
Even as other sunflower festivals popped up elsewhere, we kept our prices low — because we believe every family deserves a chance to enjoy this beauty.
But after 10 beautiful years, it’s time for our family to rest, reflect, and spend more time together — not just working, but 𝑏𝑒𝑖𝑛𝑔 together.
