The interns cleared their schedule for our meeting so we hustled right over.
I had been hoping to get some time in front of them ever since we touched down in LA. I understood, though, that they had their priorities.
It’s been a busy stretch for both of them. He relocated right before the fires, and she has had her hands full helping him adjust.
Then, those stubborn wild fires hung around and the interns had to navigate poor air quality and stress.
Fortunately, they’re very good at their jobs.
Mae, the veteran, met us at the door wearing a very cute dress that, apparently, did not twirl enough. An efficient problem solver, she immediately changed to her purple dress and gave it a spin. Perfection.
And Smith? Well, I can’t say anything about Smith because, when I picked him up, he smiled at me and I’ve been riding that high for weeks.
He looked directly into my tired old eyes and smiled.
I’m bewitched.
Welcome to the world, Smith Julian! I’m so very happy to meet you!
And, to Mae, the intern who is going to take over the office any day now, thank you for taking our meeting.
Those interns, man. They’re going to change the world.
(If you want to see these interns in action, you can follow their bosses, Pure and Weary, on Facebook and Instagram. Here’s a little sample of their work:)
