February 25 brought us some very cool people

On February 25, 1964 Cassius Clay (soon to be Muhammad Ali) beat the heavily-favored Sonny Liston by technical knockout to become the heavyweight champion of the world.

Also, just about 1,300 miles north of that fight, my husband was born.

Such an auspicious day!

And, it doesn’t end there.

Some of the coolest people I know were born on February 25th.

Jen Flannery-Bosin, the “World’s Greatest Babysitter” to our family, and the “School’s Greatest Asset” to her students and colleagues at Appleton East, also was born on Feb. 25.

Our former neighbor Kathy Stevens — she of the quick wit and ready dental floss — also celebrates her big day on the 25th of February.

My daughter Molly’s friend Jacie “the World Changer” Tengesdal? Born on Feb. 25.

And, my granddaughter’s other grandmother, Debbie, the “Generous Genius” Heaslip is also a member of the 2/25 Club.

If you’re lucky enough to know someone born on Feb. 25, you’re lucky enough.

And I hope you’re still celebrating.

Here’s to these very specific and very special Pisces and, in honor of (and with apologies to) the three-time world champion who launched his reign on their big day, here’s a little ditty for them:

You’re rare like a unicorn,

and cool like a brass horn.

We’re so grateful you all were born.

I love this shot of Deb and Vince, two of our 2/25ers, and Jerry, a fellow Pisces born a few days earlier in 1932! They’re all gems.
Here’s Jacie Jones on her wedding day with a purple-haired Molly, Jaya and Rachel.
And, here are Jacie and Molly just a few years ago with a whole lot of stage makeup on.
That’s Jen and her beautiful family. We knew she’d grow up to be exactly as amazing as she is.
Here’s our really fun friend Kathy, another member of the 2/25 Club.
