I thought the lightning and rain had ended our night early when they rudely interrupted Ben Mulwana’s set yesterday.
But, there’s always magic in the mile. The rain sent us scurrying to the Stone Arch Brewery, where we accidentally caught a tremendously talented band called The Faux Paws.
Then I stuck around to see Bandits on the Run for the third time in two days and I thought, for the millionth time, about how lucky we are to have all this talent converge on our little city every year.
Mile of Music 11 has been a joy and it’s just begun.
I heard a trombone playing as I headed down College Avenue to start my Mile Thursday afternoon. I looked up to see a man skateboarding up the avenue while playing a tune.
That seemed about right.
We saw some great and varied acts yesterday, from folk to rock.
It’s a shame that the weather shut down some of the bigger venues yesterday, but there’s plenty of time and music ahead.
I highly recommend both The Faux Paws and Bandits on the Run. I’ll probably see them again.
Meanwhile I have plenty more acts to see and Miles to go before I sleep.
