I think I will never get over the miracle of grandparenthood.
I am extra thrilled right now to be able to enjoy back-to back snuggles with my little LA taco, and my two New Jersey bagels.
We’re having a glorious time.
The taco came to Wisconsin for two whole weeks and she gamely traveled nearly the breadth of it during our recent book tour.
She’s a giggly little peanut with the kind of mood-lifting smile that leaves a trail of happiness in its wake.
I adore her.
On Wednesday morning we left her cheerful orbit and landed in a world of mischief and make-believe. I adore my New Jersey bagels as well.
Margo, our three-year old, has a keen sense of style and a dramatic flair. For our dinner out last night she paired a purple gown with leopard leggings and she looked like a queen.
“I just love this bush,” she said as she hugged the boxwood outside the restaurant. “Can we take it home?”
I explained roots and the joy of appreciating natural habitats and she happily moved on to counting the pumpkins (27!) in the restaurant’s display.
At eight-months old, her sister Ronni laughs at every thing Margo does. Ronni pulls herself up on sturdy little legs and can not wait to dash after her sister on her many adventures.
She’s a smiley little nugget of joy and we’re so grateful she’s ours.
We’re very busy over here experiencing the extraordinary blessings of our ordinary days. Chalk drawings, walks to the park, under ducks on the swings — these are the treasures in our family’s chest.
On a side note, Margo and I disagree on the terminology of our playground adventures. I call them under ducks because you push the swing nice and high and then you duck under it. She calls them underdogs which, to me, are just participants no one expects to win. What say you, under duck or under dog?
Either way, they’re a lot of fun on a warm afternoon.
We’ve got a few more adventures on the itinerary, and then I’m headed home on Sunday.
I’m so grateful for the time I get to spend with my little granddaughters and the honor of being their LaLa.
