An afternoon at the Trout Museum

The best things about the Trout Museum of Art are its cool installations.

The second best thing is that it’s free.

Currently, the museum is waiving admission in a generous effort to re-introduce itself to the community.

My friend Jill and I wandered in on a busy Saturday in February and we were quite impressed.

Though we missed Michelle Grabner’s exhibit, which was hugely disappointing because she remains one of the coolest contemporary artists around, we did see some beautiful art.

We enjoyed Layers, by Michael Ware, and Everyday Heaven, by Rafael Francisco Salas and. Charles Van Schaick and Ravelled Edge, by Beth Lipman.

We both would have liked to have spent more time wandering through the exhibits, and we intend to come back periodically.

The gift shop had some unique items, and we noticed a class taking place as well.

All in all, we give the new Trout Museum of Art a 10/10 with no notes. There’s even a coffee bar that host artists chats on Sundays.

As we wade through mud season in Wisconsin, we recommend a lovely indoor excursion through the Trout Museum of Art.

Maybe we’ll see you there!

Check out the Trout Museum of Art in downtown Appleton.
The gift shop and Drinkery are both open to the public.
Thanks to a grant from the Boldt Company, admission is free for the whole first year.
The exhibits tell some very cool stories.
So, if you wander in you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of time to soak it all in.
We appreciated the wide variety of art forms.
We’ll be back soon.
