We felt like kids playing out in the rain Sunday afternoon.
First we tailgated with our pals. Protected by a couple of well-placed tents and fueled by a tasty burger and a handful of Scotcheroos, we barely noticed the drizzle.
Then, just as I was reaching for my game-time layer and wondering if I had under prepared, my husband Vince pulled a pair of rain pants out and offered them to me.
Perfect.
Things got even cheerier when we made our way to Section 117. Normally, because those seats are right behind the visitor’s bench, we have to fend off a whole host of visiting fans. I had to look twice when we reached our seats– nothing but green and gold as far as the eye could see.
Those who have never experienced the all-weather magic of Lambeau Field must have passed on the blustery game. People from uni-season places like Arizona might never know the triumph of cupping frozen fingers around your mouth and cheering for your team.
That’s the whole point, isn’t it?
As a proper NFL fan, you want to leave it all on the field — stomp your feet soggy, scream your throat scratchy, clap your muscles sore. You’re a key element of the game plan at Lambeau. Think they can win without you and all your new friends yelling “Push ’em baaaaack!” every time the Packer defense lines up for a third down? No way!
So, even though your forgot about boots so you can’t feel your feet on the way out of the stadium, you still feel proud. You’re part of a team, man, and you just beat the Cardinals 34-13.
Go Pack Go!
Sidenote: The forecast for next Sunday’s game at Lambeau calls for 72 degrees and sunny skies.
And that’s okay too.
